The two most prevalent are observation/ethnography and interview methods. Each method has strengths and weaknesses and it can be argued that each method is better suited to certain types of study. In a well-organized essay that uses examples from class readings and lecture, describe the characteristics of and basic procedures used in observation methods and interview methods. Be sure to explain the ways researchers use these methods to collect data, addressing things like types of questions to ask during an interview and researcher roles in observation, as well as other basic characteristics.
