While there are still many mysteries, archaeologist, historians, and anthropologists have worked very hard to construct hypotheses for many of the mysteries and unknowns. These unknowns include things like the purpose of cave paintings or figurative sculptures from prehistory, or the purpose of various landmark sites, such as Stone Henge or the Giza Pyramids. We have reasonable hypotheses for most of the mysteries and unknowns from Prehistory through the Bronze Age, but these hypotheses are not necessarily fact.
