examine the position vulture investors take regarding the governance of distressed corporations. Vulture investors purchase property, financial instruments and assets from distressed corporations for the goal of making profit. The goal of vulture investors is that by liquidating the assets of the distressed corporations there would be enough funds released to honour the debts owed including interests. There is significant change to the financial and operational structure when vulture investors are involved with the reorganization of distressed corporations. Some vulture investors use the power they hold to nominate the board of directors, Chairman of the board or a new CEO. It is believed that the corporations in financial distress are in that situation as a result of poor management and operating performance.
