The Teardrop on the Face of Time

Rabind Ranat Tagor says:” Taj Mahal is like a teardrop on the face of the time.” Taj Mahal is a symbol of purity and love, a magnificent building, and one of the Seven Wonders of the World. This was built in 1643 by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan to house the tomb of his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal. Its magnificent architecture attracts thousands of tourists from all over the world every year. Moreover, it is known as a landmark symbol of rich Indian culture. In 2007 it is selected as one of the new wonders of the world.
The Taj Mahal is a glorious building and a symbol of endless love. When Shah Jahan married Arjmand Banoo,at that moment, he gave her the title of “Mumtaz Mahal”. They lived together for about 18 years. Shah Jahan had a certain fondness for her. Therefore, Mumtaz Mahal accompanied him on many trips. On the last war trip, she was pregnant. On the other hand, she was not feeling well, so she died at the age of 39 on the same trip. Before she died, she asked her husband to do two things; first, she wanted him to not marry with someone else after her. Second, she asked him to build a mausoleum for her. After Mumtaz Mahal’s death, Shah Jahan became very depressed, and his hair turned completely white in 2 years. But after a while, he started building the Taj Mahal with cooperation two of Iranian architects. Shah Jahan at 74 years old died and was buried besides his wife. In one word, it can be said that the love story behind the building of this tomb has added more value and beauty to this magnificent building.
The Taj Mahlal is one of the finest examples of Safavid architecture. The Taj Mahal building takes on different colors at different times of the day and night, which indicates the changing nature of our humans. There are four minarets around the tomb that look quite vertical and straight, but in fact they are slightly sloping outwards. Moreover, there is a 3-domed mosque on the west side. And in the east side there is a building that has been used as a guest house for a while. The construction of this tomb was begun in 1632 and completed in 1647. Ahmad and Hamid Lahori were its main architects. Perhaps the most distinctive feature of the Taj Mahal is its appearance which has made it famous not only for its Islamic-Iranian architecture, but also for its Russian Orthodox architecture.
Many of the unique features of the Taj Mahal make it one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Features such as high accuracy, unparalleled symmetry, and especially the presence of white marble. This impressive features led to the Taj Mahal being inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list in 1983. Furthermore, it is known as the “Jewel of Islamic Art in India”.
In short, the amazing architecture of the Taj Mahal and the story of the pure love of Shah Jahan to his beloved wife has caused millions of tourists to visit it every year. Additionally, the inclusion of the Taj Mahal in the list of the Seven Wonders of the World has added to its legendary fame.
