By ‘residual – dominant – emerging’ in this context we mean what kind of practices, relationships, use, (mutual) exploitation, etc., that we have been witnessing in the domain of TV-politics.
Think of, and include, the phases of national TV, trans-national and pan-Arab TVs, and foreign TVs (in Arabic). Try to observe and talk about the changing and evolving relationship between media and politics throughout these phases – what continued to exist from previous practices (residual), what became dominant, and what did emerge by the end of or during each phase, and what was the dynamics between the residual, dominant and emerging.
Examples of processes/practices that one can follow through the phases: how states use TV broadcasting and why in various phases; direct and indirect funding and related methods, impact on society and identity, etc.
