Explain the author’s thesis—the main point or points that he or she is trying to make in the book. This is an explanation of the author’s purpose; the central idea or ideas around which the book is organized.
Give a broad general summary of the book. Give examples of the authors ‘s arguments which capture the flavor of the book.
Assess the book. Discuss the sources upon which the author bases his/her book. What research material did he or she use? How successful the author was in achieving hi/her objectives?
