Choose two news articles published since 2015 addressing a facet of Israel/Palestine. They may be from two U.S. sources at different places on the political spectrum, two different international sources, or one U.S. and one international source. They should address closely related content: the same incident, person, or question. Summarize each of the articles, then compare their representation of the issue. How do word choice, selection of evidence, and other editorial decisions impact your interpretation? What forms of authority does each rely on? Use the tools from the evaluation portion of your Annotated Bibliographies. Write a conclusion stating what the comparison illuminates for you. Avoid overly general or relativistic conclusions such as “there are many sides to the issue.” Aim to be incisive and specific. What is at stake in analyzing the different perspectives? How might the articles affect different audiences? What are the real-life consequences of adopting one stance over another?
