Despite its anti-imperial message, Conrad has very extreme presentations of Africans in his book. How did Europeans view the African people they were conquering during this period of imperial expansion? 2) The Belgian Congo was arguably one of the worst human atrocities committed by an imperial power during the age of “New Imperialism”. What examples of atrocities do we see in Conrad and what extend do these atrocities come through in Twain’s satire of King Leopold?
