evise the Diagnostic Essay using the Langston Hughes’s poem “Theme for English B” and the Baker essay in Norton “Jimmy Santiago Baca: Poetry as Lifesaver,” to connect the texts with your experience as a student in an English class. Follow the following steps: Step One- Re-read Langtson Hughes’s “Theme for English B” and read the essay in Norton “Jimmy Santiago Baca: Poetry as Lifesaver” pages 893-897. Step Two- Consider the experiences of Hughes and Baca. Consider what the texts “say” about what we learn in class, that isn’t from a book or instructor’s lecture. Step Three- Revise your essay. Write three to five pages. In your revision, answer the following questions in your essay: · What life lessons have you learned? · What academic lessons or hands-on skills have you learned? · What has inspired you? And/or, what has discouraged you? · What ideas have you wrestled with as a consequence of your experience(s) in the English class? · What do you know to be true?
