How are American identities constructed in relationship to each other?

. Name and describe the major sections of the Social Security Act of 1935.

For each section:

a. Describe the major benefits/services;

b. Identify who were the likely recipients of the services and benefits, and who were least likely to receive benefits and services at that time, and why.

2. Summarize changes to one component of the policy to the present day.

3. Explain how the policy’s modifications do, or do not, promote the well-being of vulnerable groups served by the policy. Give objective evidence or rationale for your position.

Throughout the past 40 years in America, there have been various campaigns to curb alcohol and drug use–Just Say No, the “Truth” campaign regarding tobacco, and the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign against drunk driving, just to name a few.

What do you think it takes for an anti-alcohol or drug campaign to be successful? Based on what you’ve seen and read, what strategies work and which fail? Why?
