Write an analysis of a communication situation you have recently experienced within your workplace, using a specified model or theory.

Applying communication models is more straightforward the fewer the number of individuals involved in a communication. Analyzing an interaction you have had yourself is the foundation upon which your understanding and insight into the communication approaches within all sizes of organizations begins.

Instructions:
Complete the following:

Choose a communication situation you recently experienced within your workplace or another organization with which you are affiliated.
Use the materials provided in the Resources or other resources from the Capella library or the Internet to research David Berlo’s model of communication or the information theory of human communication process as described by Shannon and Weaver to use as starting points to analyze the communication situation you experienced.
Summarize your experience and write an analysis of it that includes the following:
Identify the source (sender or transmitter) and the receiver (destination) in the situation.
Describe the message and what type of message function was it serving.
Explain how the message was encoded. For example, what symbols, words, or ideas were used to create the message?
Explain how the message was decoded.
Explain how a channel or channels were used to transmit the message.
Describe the type of noise that was experienced. You may wish to review the materials in the Resources for a description of noise in a communication situation, since noise is more than auditory sounds.
Describe the communication context of the situation. Context includes where and when the communication took place as well as important aspects of the situation that impacted the communication, such as the mood or climate of the organization at the time of the communication.
Compare the intended effect to the actual effect of the message. That is, what did the sender hope would be understood and what did the receivers actually understand?
Assess whether a shared meaning or shared reality was constructed. For example, even if a message is understood, the sender and receiver may not be in agreement. If a shared meaning was not reached, what needed to change?

Discuss how the Lordship of Jesus and the declaration “Jesus is Lord,” would have been heard within the Greco-Roman context as well as the context and history of the city of Philippi. Discuss as well how this declaration might have been extra scandalous given the history and culture of Philippi. 2. 1 Corinthians 1:21-25: Discuss how the message of the cross might have been a stumbling block for those who heard it. Bring into the discussion knowledge of the city of Corinth as well as your knowledge of Greco-Roman philosophies. How would the message of the cross be compared with these?

Evaluate the cultural analysis of an interpreter of Scripture. To interpret the New Testament well, you need to know the cultural and historical background of the New Testament and how to apply that to understand particular texts. You also need to know how to evaluate the work of others to see if their understanding and application of the cultural background is accurate. You will hear many sermons and teachings in your lifetime proposing ways cultural connections illumine texts. Some will be right. Others will be way off.

The Metamorphosis or The Waste Land. Select one of the following questions to respond to. The answer to the question you select should serve as the thesis to your paper. This thesis should be included in an introductory paragraph. The paragraphs following the introduction should support and defend this thesis by analyzing and discussing specific examples and quotations from the reading you selected. Review the academic articles you located in the Week 4 Library Assignment. Select at least two of these articles to incorporate into your paper as additional evidence in support of your argument. Provide a concluding paragraph that summarizes the key points of your paper. Compose an essay analyzing Gregor’s character and how it develops over the course of the story. Start by exploring Gregor’s identity. How does Gregor see himself, his job, his family? Has his view changed by the end of the play? Pay special attention to Gregor’s thoughts as well as to the dialogue between him and other characters. As the story progresses, Gregor becomes more isolated, and he is treated as an outcast. One way to approach this assignment is to focus on how Gregor adapts to his new and changing situation. Another is to delve into the subtopic of personal identity and family duty. Many scholars suggest that The Metamorphosis depicts the Industrial Revolution’s dehumanization of the worker—a “deadening of the soul.” Gregor’s transformation into a giant bug symbolizes his alienation from society and his loss of human self. Gregor is valued only for as long as he can work. He labors for others and has little control over his life. Analyze the story’s depiction of an industrialized society and peoples’ relationships to each other within the social structure. From its initial publication, The Waste Land was seen as Eliot’s attempt to convey the loss and destruction brought about by WWI. The poem is deliberately constructed from a series of disconnected images and allusions which Eliot calls fragments. Select three or four of these fragments or images for your analysis. What do the fragments you have selected reveal about Eliot’s view of modern Europe? How do they convey the sense of physical and cultural loss brought about by WWI? Proofread your paper to ensure that the Thesis is clear and well-focused and the introduction includes all the necessary information.

Discuss some of the reforms taking place in the Roman Catholic Church in the 11th and 12th centuries. What problems did the church face? Did these reforms solve the problems? How should these problems have been addressed? Your response should be at least 300 words in length. Question 2 Compare Islam and Christianity. How did the two arise? How are the faiths alike, and how are they different? How were Christian and Muslim states governed in the early Middle Ages?
