Why do you think the Baroque of the Americas has received less attention than European Baroque?

discussed the Baroque Era and its multiple expressions in Italy. In a smaller subsection of the chapter, we learned about baroque outside of Italy, although only in Europe. However, baroque art was also created in the American colonies of Spain and Portugal. The buildings and churches built in the towns made wealthy by gold, silver, and diamond mines in South and North America are remarkable. The art created in the colonies competed with European art, and as such, even the King of Spain said, “Who needs the art of Leonardo Da Vinci when he has the art of a Native American named Caspicara in his colonies”. Why do you think the Baroque of the Americas has received less attention than European Baroque?
