(For some words, etymologies are controversial or not all this information is available, but it should be presented for most. Many of these items are reported quite inaccurately in dictionaries and particularly in unofficial ONLINE SOURCES, as we’ll see, but you should be accurate in quoting your source! Note, too, that some names may have been borrowed first into another language (such as French or Spanish, BUT LOOK FOR THE NATIVE LANGUAGE ORIGIN) before being borrowed into English.
