Nominate 2 issues that may be seen as controversial within the context of teaching Society & Culture to senior secondary students. The issues must be social/cultural in nature and situated within the context of local, national or global citizenry. One of these 2 issues must be of such a nature that you instinctively wish to not be involved (i.e. you do not want to teach it.) The reason is not a personal one on your behalf, rather social/psychological concern for the welfare of all the students within the class. The other issue, you are more than happy to encourage. Explain your reasons for embracing or rejecting each of the two issues. Explain the strategies you would use to facilitate student understanding as to why your professional opinion leads you to determine that in this place, time and context, issue X is not appropriate.
